About Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Arts

Students earn a seat at the Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Performing and Visual Arts by audition. We are a public arts high school in the Pawtucket School Department, and every student chooses a major in dance, music, theatre, video and film, or visual art.

Auditions mirror the work students do here. Visual art applicants draw a still life on site and bring a portfolio of original work, dance applicants learn a dance phrase and take a group class, and musicians perform and complete a music theory assessment and pitch matching. Theatre applicants prepare two memorized monologues, and video and film applicants submit a short narrative video.
