For more than 51 years, Westbridge Academy has worked with students whose emotional, behavioral and learning challenges made their home schools a poor fit. We are a nonprofit private special education school in Bloomfield, approved by the State of New Jersey and serving grades K to 12, and many of our students return to their home districts with stronger coping skills and confidence. Every student receives individual counseling each week, with crisis intervention when needed. We also provide psychological and health services, speech therapy and academic tutoring. Classes are small, and lessons are taught in smaller steps over more time so students can fill gaps. Our reading program includes Orton-Gillingham instruction when needed, and our Reading Lab was designed by our reading specialist and speech-language therapist. Students 14 and older follow REACH, our curriculum covering future planning, career exploration, campus visits and wellness. Students also produce a monthly news podcast, and we run an Extended School Year program each summer.
