Just over 400 students in preschool through fifth grade attend Washington Elementary, home of the Eagles. Federal Title I funding pays for full-time reading and math interventionists, reading paraprofessionals who run interventions every day, and extra classroom materials. Our special education team includes two mild/moderate teachers, a speech-language pathologist and speech technician, a school psychologist and three special education paraprofessionals. Students who need a few minutes to settle their emotions can use our staffed Wellness Room, and in the Skills Room they practice social, emotional and behavioral skills. Three behavior technicians, a school nurse, ESL staff and two counselors who teach weekly guidance lessons round out that support. Our preschool holds morning and afternoon sessions. Each week students rotate through music with a certified music teacher, P.E., computers, library and counselor time. Playworks helps us run recess, the Eagle Choir performs, and families can sign up for the Boys & Girls Club. Breakfast and lunch are served at school, the Utah Food Bank delivers food packages on the first Thursday of each month, and students can take home meal bags on Fridays.
