Roselle Park, NJAges 2-5

Community Preschool opened in 1965 as Community Nursery School, after members of the Community United Methodist Church of Roselle Park spent two years planning a day school in empty classrooms of the church's school building. The church still sponsors us, and we are a state-licensed Christian child care center. We serve children ages two through five of all faiths and from all communities. Our programs are the Tiny 2s, 3s in Training, and Pre K 4, each offered five, three, or two days a week, with low student-to-staff ratios and activity-based learning. Our motto is "Where Learning Through Play is Serious Business." The school year runs September through June with 180 school days, and a summer program runs June through August. Tuition is divided into 10 equal monthly payments, and we accept 4C payments through the New Jersey Child Care Subsidy Program.

Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in Roselle Park

How do Roselle Park families compare district campuses and preschool options?
Roselle Park School District manages child study team evaluations and the public special education continuum across campuses including Aldene Elementary School and Roselle Park Middle School listed on this page. Roselle Park Community Preschool offers early childhood programming that some families review before or alongside district services. Union County neighbors such as Cranford and Kenilworth each run separate teams, so verify your enrollment address before relying on another district's referral process.
How do I request a child study team evaluation in Roselle Park?
Submit a dated written referral describing your concerns to Roselle Park School District when you suspect a disability that may affect learning. New Jersey requires parental consent before evaluations begin, and the team must follow IDEA timelines once consent is received. Start with Roselle Park Special Services Office and review NJDOE Parental Rights and Engagement so you know what to expect at each step.
Can Roselle Park families use state vouchers to pay for private special education?
New Jersey does not operate a private school choice ESA or voucher program for K-12 special education tuition. Public funding for a private placement generally follows an IEP team decision that FAPE cannot be provided in a less restrictive public setting. Parent-paid preschool or private enrollment is separate from district-funded out-of-district placement unless the team later agrees tuition support is required. Do not treat NJASEPS Connections for Success as K-12 tuition funding; it serves graduates of member schools.
What should I compare when reviewing inclusive supports in Roselle Park?
Roselle Park Middle School has been recognized for inclusive education practices, but you should still verify how each building delivers instruction, related services, and family communication for your child. Ask Aldene Elementary School and Roselle Park Community Preschool how they screen students and coordinate with the child study team when concerns arise. Compare the schools listed on this page using one checklist before you accept or change placement.
Where can Union County parents get free help with special education meetings?
SPAN Parent Advocacy Network is New Jersey's federally designated Parent Training and Information Center and offers workshops plus individual guidance on referrals, IEPs, and placement talks. Visit SPAN Parent Training and Information before major meetings if you want coaching on questions to ask. Keep a simple log of referral dates and team responses so follow-ups with Roselle Park School District stay organized.
