The CEA School is a New Jersey Department of Education approved private school for middle and high school students with disabilities, housed inside South Hunterdon Regional High School in Lambertville. Because we share a building with a host district, many of our students learn alongside grade-level peers in inclusive classrooms and can join the host school's electives and extracurricular activities. Our parent organization, CEA, was founded in 1970 by family members of people with disabilities and has provided academic, life skills and transition services to students since 1984. We keep a high staff to student ratio, and each student's IEP guides daily instruction. Licensed social workers and a school psychologist lead positive behavior supports, with crisis, group and individual counseling. Speech, occupational and physical therapy are delivered at school, at work sites and in the community. Our CARF accredited transition services include paid and unpaid community work experiences. Each summer, the Extended School Year program runs from early July to mid-August with field trips, community learning and weekly pool and YMCA visits, and a nurse is on site.
