Founded in 1989, Allegro School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder across their lifespan. Our school program provides a quality education to children on the autism spectrum while keeping them close to their families and preparing them for community living. Allegro is primarily an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) school. Educational programming is an interdisciplinary collaboration between teachers, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and behavioral staff, all guided by ABA research. Instruction is individualized to meet each child's needs in conformance with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Beyond academics, we teach functional daily living and vocational skills through programs such as our Food Service, Greenhouse, and Community Based Instruction offerings. Middle and high school students receive training in life and vocational skills to prepare them for post-graduation life, and families are supported through parent training, respite, and adult services.
