Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, known as Wolcott Tech, is part of the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System and serves students from more than 30 communities in Northwest Connecticut. Students rotate between academic classes and trade instruction on a roughly two-week cycle, earning a high school diploma while training in industry-standard shops and labs. Freshmen explore our 12 career and technical education programs before choosing a trade. Our roots go back to 1893, when the Sisters of Mercy opened St. Francis of Assisi Parochial School in Torrington. That school later merged with St. Peter School, and in 2019 the parish reformed it as a STREAM academy under the name St. John Paul the Great. We still teach in the building completed in 1962 at 360 Prospect Street, with 16 classrooms, a full-size gymnasium and a cafeteria. We are a Catholic school for Pre-K 3 through grade 8. Our STREAM framework connects science, technology, religion, engineering, arts and math through project-based learning, computer science, engineering skills and research. For 2026 to 2027, tuition is $6,050 for kindergarten through 8th grade and $8,000 for full-day Pre-K 3 and 4, with a 10-month payment plan available.
