Adaptive Therapies
Adaptive Therapies is a therapy clinic on East Navajo Street in Farmington, serving San Juan County in New Mexico's northwest corner. It works primarily with children from birth to 21 and also offers therapy services for adults, so a family is not forced to change providers when a young person ages out. The clinical approach is play-based. The practice's stated position is that a child's primary occupation is play, and that play supports every area of development and learning, so sessions are structured around it rather than around drills. Clinicians carry more than 30 years of combined experience across occupational and physical therapy. What families describe most consistently is scheduling and reliability: appointments arranged around a child's school and sport commitments, and sessions that start and end on time. That sounds minor until you are the parent driving across a rural county twice a week. Therapists are named and stay with a child over years rather than rotating. Farmington is the practical hub for families across the Four Corners, and this is one of very few pediatric therapy options in the area. Call (505) 386-0075 to ask about availability and which insurance is accepted.
Atomic ABA
Atomic ABA provides applied behavior analysis to families in Los Alamos and the surrounding communities. It is a local practice rather than a chain branch, and it states its commitment to Los Alamos plainly, on the reasoning that strong local connections produce better outcomes. Programming is individualized and aimed at building communication, independence and confidence. The practice calls its work guided by the science of ABA and committed to care that is ethical, transparent and measurable. In practice that means goals and progress should be visible to a parent rather than held inside the clinical team. It runs a defined process families can read before committing, and it works with teenagers as well as younger children, which matters because ABA providers often concentrate on early intervention and leave older kids with fewer options. Getting started runs through a combined registration and insurance step, so the benefits check happens up front rather than after a family has already committed time. Los Alamos sits well north of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and families there have historically had to travel for autism services. Call (505) 535-4337 to ask about current availability.
