In Cypress, ABA is split by age rather than delivered as one generic track. Early Start covers birth to age 3 and concentrates on socializing and communication. School Readiness, for ages 3 to 6, practices following directions, peer interaction, and communication, and a school-shadowing option places a technician in the classroom to share support strategies with the teacher. Foundations, for ages 6 to 18, works on socializing, executive functioning, and daily tasks. Adults 18 and older can receive a plan of their own, and social skills groups run at every age. Sessions are one-on-one or in a group, at home, at school, or elsewhere in the community, using Natural Environment Teaching and Discrete Trial Training. A behavior assessment sets an individual treatment plan, parent training is part of the work, and the plan is revisited in monthly meetings. Weekly time often falls between 15 and 40 hours, based on the child's needs, and staff may suggest waiting to start school until a child is more prepared. Children in the Cypress School District and Anaheim Union High School District are part of this service. Many California plans cover the therapy, including Medi-Cal plans such as CalOptima and several major commercial insurers, for autism and other developmental delays.
