Fryelands Elementary School opened in 2005 and serves about 400 students from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade in Monroe. Our 22-classroom building sits beside a city park, so students use its playfields along with our own playground and a large covered play area. Alongside traditional K-5 classrooms, we host a developmental preschool for young children who qualify for early learning special education, plus a Transition to Kindergarten (TK) classroom. As part of the Monroe School District, we provide special education services through the IEP process, Section 504 plans, English language learner support, and i-Ready reading and math assessments that help teachers target both support and challenge. Families can apply for free meals through the district's nutrition benefits application, and district bus routes serve our attendance area. The Falcons have an active PTA and a Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer program, and Falcon News keeps families up to date.

Kid's Country Monroe sits just off the Stevens Pass Highway, an easy stop for families commuting on 522 or 203. Infants can start with us at 4 weeks, and school-age children stay through age 12. The center opens at 6:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and each day brings breakfast, lunch, and snacks in the morning and afternoon. Children move through age-based classrooms: Discovery for infants, Investigators for toddlers, Explorers for preschoolers and Pathfinders for Pre-K, where small-group instruction builds kindergarten readiness in literacy, writing, math and science. Teachers plan from an emergent curriculum, so a class's interest in bugs, weather or space shapes the week's activities. Lead teachers hold a CDA or an early childhood degree and complete 24 hours of professional development each year. Our Voyagers program covers the hours before and after school with homework time, STEM building challenges and art. We pick up students at Frank Wagner and Fryelands, with district buses bringing children from Salem Woods and Chain Lake. Summer camp adds field trips and guest visitors, and through the year children enjoy classroom parties, themed dress-up days and visits from community helpers.
