Sunshine Preschool & Pre-K Marysville

Listed
Marysville, WAAges 2-5$3,500 per school year

Sunshine Preschool & Pre-K has been teaching Marysville preschoolers since 1980, inside the building that once served as the city's original post office. We have turned the old interior into bright, colorful classrooms, and families can take a virtual classroom tour before enrolling. Our mixed-age classes bring together children ages 3 to 5, so most students spend two years with us before kindergarten, and each class is capped at 16. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday, either 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Learning goals cover letters, numbers, shapes, patterns, sequencing, writing names and cutting, along with taking turns, listening and self-help skills such as buttoning and zipping. Our two lead teachers have taught preschool for 25 and 20 years. The year includes field trips to the Carleton Farms pumpkin patch, Bridges Pets in Snohomish, Sunnyside Nursery, a grocery store and the Outback Kangaroo Farm, a fire safety visit from Marysville Fire Station 62 and a spring graduation. Tuition is $3,500 for the school year, usually paid as $350 a month, and children must turn 3 by August 31 and be fully potty trained.

Comparing school options in Marysville

Marysville School District posts a Special Education Referral Form on its special education page, along with procedural safeguards in English, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian. To start an evaluation, put your concerns in writing to your child's school and the district special education department. Washington then gives the district 25 school days to decide whether to evaluate.

Marysville publishes a clear order for resolving concerns about a child's special education program. Start with the special education or general education teacher, then the principal or dean, then a Special Education Director, then the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services, then the superintendent. If concerns remain, OSPI's special education community resources line is 360-725-6075. The state also funds an education ombuds office for families.

Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in Marysville

How do I request an evaluation in Marysville?
Use the district's Special Education Referral Form or write your own letter. Washington accepts email as a written request. Send it to special education staff at your child's school and to the district special education department, and keep a copy. List every area of concern so the team considers them all. See our evaluation request guide.
Who do I talk to if I disagree with my child's services?
Marysville lists a sequence. Start with the special education or general education teacher, then the principal, assistant principal or dean. Next comes a Special Education Director, then the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services, then the superintendent. After that, families can contact OSPI's special education community resources at 360-725-6075.
What outside help does Marysville point families to?
The district lists the state Office of the Education Ombuds at 1-866-297-2597, along with community disability organizations and Washington's parent training center. These groups explain rights and help families prepare for meetings without taking the district's side. Our IEP prep checklist is another way to get ready.
What are the deadlines after I ask for an evaluation?
Washington gives the district 25 school days from your written referral to decide whether to evaluate. If it agrees and you sign consent, the evaluation must be finished within 35 school days. If the district says no, it must send you Prior Written Notice with its reasons, and you can use the state's dispute resolution options.
