About Stillwater Academy
Stillwater Academy sits on Redwood Road in South Jordan and operates as a residential treatment program with an accredited school inside it. This is a live-in placement, not a day program. Boys and girls ages 13 to 18 enroll and live in small, family-style homes near campus, following a framework the program calls Learn, Live, Lead. Teens generally arrive after some combination of school failure, anxiety, depression, or acting out, frequently alongside ADHD, and often with a history that includes adoption, loss, abuse, or neglect. Enrollment is year-round, and the program takes new students at any time or adds them to a waiting list when full.
Classes run year-round in small groups taught by licensed teachers, with curriculum customized so each student moves at their own level and pace, an approach the program aims squarely at teens with poor grades, ADHD, and learning disorders. Stillwater is Cognia accredited, which lets credits transfer back to a home school or forward to higher education, and the National Association of Special Education Teachers has recognized it as a School of Excellence. Students who arrive with an IEP have accommodations implemented, and the Academic Director builds the individual academic plan. Organization, time management, and impulse control are treated as explicit instructional targets rather than assumed skills. Equine work runs alongside the therapy and the academics.
Funding is stated plainly and is worth reading twice: Medicaid does not cover this program. Families who want to know whether private insurance will help can text a photo of the insurance card to the admissions team. Getting started means submitting the inquiry form, taking the free online assessment, or calling or texting admissions, followed by a free enrollment application and then an admissions packet once a student is accepted. Campus tours can be scheduled. Acceptance rests on a review of the teen's current and past behavior together with a conversation with the parents. Reach admissions at (385) 352-3371 or admissions@stillwateracademy.org.
