River's Edge School is at 319 West 11000 South in South Jordan. It is a Jordan School District self-contained special education school for about 40 to 45 students ages 8 through 22 who need intensive emotional, social, and behavioral support. Students come through the IEP and Least Restrictive Environment process. It is not open enrollment. The staff-to-student ratio is about 1 to 5. The regular day is 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on a 180-day calendar, with Extended School Year in the summer when a student qualifies. Independent University serves students ages 18-22 Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Speech, occupational therapy, counseling, and vocational training are available to qualifying students.
