J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School

J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School enrolls children from a toddler class through eighth grade on Redondo Avenue in Salt Lake City, operating as a ministry of St. Ambrose Parish. Student services runs here as its own department under two co-directors. Tricia Cook covers schoolwide assessments, academic intervention planning for kindergarten through fifth grade, special education evaluations spanning cognitive and achievement testing, speech therapy coordination, and the Carson Smith Scholarship. Dr. Kristen Fuoco covers schoolwide behavior supports, academic intervention planning for sixth through eighth grade, occupational therapy coordination, and social and emotional supports and therapy.

Around those two sit a speech pathologist, Dr. Rob Kraemer, a school counselor, Jessica Mertlich, and Mitch Von Puttkammer, who teaches directed studies and works as a behavior and academic interventionist. Daily intervention happens through Power Hour, staffed by a coordinator and four additional academic intervention teachers. Separately, the school adopted MindUP, a neuroscience based social and emotional curriculum, across the whole community.

Kindergarten through fifth grade tuition is $9,500, or $9,250 at the qualified Catholic rate, which is tied to a baptism certificate and registration in a Catholic parish. Preschool runs $4,645 and half day pre-kindergarten $5,830, with toddler classes from $2,930. Families needing help apply through FACTS Grant and Aid, and Utah Fits All is available at $8,000 per child per year. Prospective families schedule a tour with admissions director Heather Burns, then apply with a $50 fee and a $500 deposit credited toward tuition. Places are filled by priority order: current students, then siblings, then St. Ambrose parishioners, then other Catholic families, then non-Catholic families.
