Jerry R. Walker Middle School carries the name of Little Elm Police Detective Jerry Walker, an Army veteran who served the department for 19 years, including as a school resource officer at Little Elm High School, before he was killed in the line of duty in 2017. Little Elm ISD opened our campus on August 31, 2020, and dedicated it on February 28, 2021. Our building was built for 1,200 students. Students can join athletics, band, choir, theatre, cheerleading, the National Junior Honor Society and a Recycling Club. Our staff includes school counselors, a library media specialist, a nurse and a campus behavior specialist.

Our founder studied child development in college, discovered Dr. Maria Montessori's approach, and later enrolled her own children in Montessori schools. She opened Little Elephant Montessori to run the method the way she felt it should be run, with real support for teachers. Today we care for children from 6 weeks to 6 years in a new building on East Eldorado Parkway in Little Elm. Our three classroom programs are Infant, Pre-Primary (toddler) and Primary, with mixed-age groups where children move on once they master a skill. Lessons cover the Montessori areas of practical life, sensorial work, math with concrete materials, and language with sandpaper letters and the moveable alphabet, plus nature-based science, geography, music and art. Music, yoga, art and sports classes are included in monthly tuition, along with a free weekly Snowy Fun trip. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks every day. Children use two playgrounds and tend a kids' garden. After-school enrichment runs in fall, winter, spring and summer sessions, and we hold a summer camp. We accept CCMS and other Texas child care assistance programs and offer flexible payment plans.
