First Baptist Church of Massillon opened Planting Seeds of Hope Children's Center in 2003 as a ministry offering Christian care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. Our center is open Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and we also enroll children in a half-day preschool. Every classroom uses the Creative Curriculum, a research-based curriculum the Ohio Department of Education recognizes as developmentally appropriate, and our teachers add a Christian component to each room. Children learn hands-on and explore areas that interest them at their own pace. Our lead teachers hold at least an associate degree in early childhood education. We are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and rated Gold in Step Up to Quality. Our preschool and Pre-K children take part in service projects through the year, including the St. Jude Trike-a-Thon, a shoe box drive for children in need, a winter hat and glove collection for the Salvation Army, and Red Nose Day to fight childhood hunger.
