Jefferson Elementary School - Shelby

At Elizabeth Elementary, we work to make school a safe, respectful place where students are treated as individuals. Our focus is on academic progress and children’s social and emotional growth, with families and the community involved. We use positive behavior supports and share school-improvement information with parents.

At James Love Elementary, we build the fundamental skills children need for continuing learning. Teachers use research-based strategies and activities that ask students to apply knowledge, analyze ideas and take on new challenges. Positive relationships and clear expectations are part of our classrooms. We recognize students’ effort, learning and appropriate behavior as we help them develop the foundations for later education and life.

We are a tuition-free public charter school in Shelby with a classical, college-preparatory approach. In kindergarten through grade eight, the Core Knowledge Sequence provides a shared foundation across subjects. STEM learning is integrated through problem-solving in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Character and citizenship are part of daily instruction. We work with families, community members, businesses and colleges to extend learning opportunities and encourage students to think independently.
