Elizabeth Elementary

At James Love Elementary, we build the fundamental skills children need for continuing learning. Teachers use research-based strategies and activities that ask students to apply knowledge, analyze ideas and take on new challenges. Positive relationships and clear expectations are part of our classrooms. We recognize students’ effort, learning and appropriate behavior as we help them develop the foundations for later education and life.

At Jefferson Elementary, we work to give students a safe, respectful and student-centered place to learn. Along with academic progress, we focus on social and emotional growth and involve families and the wider community. Our school uses positive behavior supports and shares improvement plans with parents.

We are a tuition-free public charter school in Shelby with a classical, college-preparatory approach. In kindergarten through grade eight, the Core Knowledge Sequence provides a shared foundation across subjects. STEM learning is integrated through problem-solving in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Character and citizenship are part of daily instruction. We work with families, community members, businesses and colleges to extend learning opportunities and encourage students to think independently.
