Oak Hill School of New York
Private therapeutic special education day school
Scotia, NY
Oak Hill School is a private therapeutic day school for students in grades K through 8 whose emotional or behavioral challenges keep them from being successful in other schools. As one of the smallest specialized therapeutic programs in New York State, we are able to give every child the individualized attention they need to grow. Our highly committed staff delivers a non-traditional program that draws on nature and the outdoors, cooking, art, technology, and physical education to build self-esteem and support learning across the core curriculum. In addition to being certified in special education, our teachers and teaching assistants are trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS). We have six classrooms, each made up of six students, one teacher, and one teaching assistant. Set on nine wooded acres complete with hiking trails, a playground, and a pond, our campus gives students room to learn and play outdoors. Our program is fully aligned with New York State and Common Core Learning Standards, and we provide related services including occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech, along with individual and group counseling. A six-week summer program is available for all enrolled students.
Support: emotional_behavioral, Grades K-8
