Shrub Oak International School

Shrub Oak International School opened in 2018 in a former Jesuit seminary, rebuilt as a modern school for autistic children, adolescents and young adults. The 127-acre gated campus in northern Westchester County sits less than an hour from New York City and includes a farm, a Life Skills House, fitness facilities and an auditorium. Students attend as day students or live on campus in their own dorm rooms with around-the-clock residential staff.

Students are grouped into cohorts by profile. Our Diploma Program follows Next Generation standards with a 3:1 student-to-staff ratio and classes capped at eight, leading to a high school diploma and a CDOS certificate. The Skills and Achievement Program teaches functional literacy, math and daily living skills at 2:1, and the Founders Program serves nonverbal or minimally verbal students at 1:1.

Our clinical team of psychologists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts and mental health clinicians provides individual and group counseling and behavior plans. The Pines, an intensive behavioral health program on campus, typically serves ages 12 to 17.
