Franklin Early Childhood Center opened its doors in 1983, and our district's early childhood programs date back to 1966. Today we serve about 345 children in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade on a four-acre campus in central Hewlett. We run one of the area's few district-supported, open-enrollment, full-day Pre-K programs, and full-day kindergarten has been part of our school since 1978. First graders joined the Early Childhood program in 1996. Every classroom has computers, and our building includes two full-sized gymnasiums, an expanded library with performance space, an indoor Playscape and a tree-shaded outdoor playground. Our student support team includes a school nurse, a social worker and two school psychologists, and before and after school care is available for all students from Pre-K through First Grade.
