The Midland School

The Midland School provides a comprehensive special education program for students ages 3 to 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including students classified as multiply disabled, cognitively impaired, communication impaired, and autistic. We serve students referred by public school districts throughout New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania, on a 57 acre campus in central New Jersey designed specifically for learners with special needs.

Our teachers and therapists use research-based strategies and multi-sensory instructional techniques across all core curriculum areas, with positive behavioral support central to our approach. We implement individualized education programs (IEPs) so each student reaches their highest level of achievement and independence, and we offer occupational and physical therapy, speech and language therapy, counseling, and health services on site.

Midland has supported individuals with special needs for more than 60 years, offering a continuum that reaches from early childhood through adulthood. We partner closely with families as they navigate life with a loved one who has special needs, emphasizing personal choice, self-advocacy, community inclusion, and self-determination.
