Palisades Country Day School and Camp

Palisades Country Day School and Camp is the Closter campus of a family-run preschool that Mary Ann and Richard Hubschman founded in Fort Lee in 1965. The Closter school opened in the 1990s for families who had moved north, and the founders' granddaughter oversees it today.

We serve children from toddlers through transitional kindergarten, with classes for little learners, toddlers, preschool, pre-kindergarten, and TK, plus after-school programs and before and after care. Our approach draws on ideas from the Bank Street School in New York City and the Reggio Emilia classrooms of Italy. Children work at their own pace through multi-sensory projects, and the academic program builds letter recognition, beginning sounds, and reading and math readiness.

In summer the campus becomes a day camp, with groups from Tiny Tots ages 21 to 36 months up to Senior Campers ages 7 to 8, an early swim program, pools, a splash park, a nature center, an arts pavilion, a cooking center, and indoor gyms.
