Sheppard Pratt School at Glyndon (officially "Sheppard Pratt School in Glyndon") is a year-round nonpublic special education day school in Reisterstown, Maryland, run as part of the Sheppard Pratt health system. It serves students in kindergarten through grade 12 who have autism, emotional disability, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, other health impairment, specific learning disability, or speech and language impairment. The school sits on a 43-acre campus that includes nature trails, a greenhouse, and a sensory-friendly playground, and has capacity for 160 students. The program pairs specialized instruction with clinical and therapeutic support in one place. Students work from grade-level and adapted curricula, including the Baltimore County curriculum, the Maryland College and Career Readiness curriculum, and the Syracuse Community-Referenced Curriculum Guide. Onsite clinical services include counseling and case management, psychiatric services and medication management, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy, group therapy, psychotherapy, and nursing. Class sizes are small, and the daily routine is structured to combine academics, behavioral strategies, and clinical care. Older students have access to vocational and life skills training through community-based instruction and on and off-site career exploration. Post-secondary preparation includes career completer and elective tracks such as culinary arts, art, music, carpentry, horticulture, Spanish, and technology, plus the option to take college-level courses at local community colleges with tuition, transportation, and academic support from Sheppard Pratt staff. High school students can also join hobby clubs and try out for nonpublic sports leagues. Sheppard Pratt School at Glyndon is a Type I School approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Students are referred through their home districts, currently drawing from eleven local school systems across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia, so placements are arranged and funded through public school systems rather than billed as private tuition. Admissions can be reached at SPSGlyndonAdmissions@sheppardpratt.org or 410-517-5400.
