Founder and owner Alexandra Drouant opened STEAM Academy Preschool in Youngsville as a child care center built around science, technology, engineering, art and math. We enroll children from 12 months to 5 years old, grouped by age, and pair our STEAM curriculum with Frog Street Learning and Conscious Discipline. Literacy, music and outdoor play are part of every week, and lessons lean on hands-on experiments rather than worksheets. Tuition covers supplies, textbooks, software, meals and snacks, plus soft play and yoga, and our Pre-K classes use iPads. We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration is $150 per child each year, and families get a 10 percent tuition discount for each additional child. In summer we open a science camp for children from Pre-K 3 through 5th grade, capped at 15 children, with daily experiments, weekly themes such as forensic science, water and space, water play days and field trips. When classes are full, families can join a waitlist that gives priority to siblings of current students.
