About Madison STEAM Academy
Madison STEAM Academy sits beside Leeper Park in South Bend, and our K-5 students use that setting every week: an expansive school garden, an outdoor amphitheater and a lavender labyrinth give them places to observe nature and test ideas. As a magnet school of South Bend Schools, we build science, technology, engineering, arts and math into every grade, alongside Spanish from first grade on.
Our Makerspace class gives students tools to design, build and invent, and the Innovation class introduces coding in Scratch, Python and JavaScript. Project Lead the Way and Engineering is Elementary units shape the hands-on curriculum, and field trips are frequent.
After school, students can join Robotics Club, Art Club with digital design and 3D printing, coding and Drums Alive. Fifth graders serve as Student Ambassadors in student government, and University of Notre Dame students tutor our third graders Tuesday through Friday. Families can enroll through the district magnet application, and the district provides meals and transportation.
