Madison STEAM Academy sits beside Leeper Park in South Bend, and our K-5 students use that setting every week: an expansive school garden, an outdoor amphitheater and a lavender labyrinth give them places to observe nature and test ideas. Resurrection Lutheran Academy is a Christ-centered Lutheran school at 6840 Nimtz Parkway in South Bend. It is owned by the Michiana Lutheran Education Association and serves preschool for ages 3 and up through grade 8. Full-day pre-K is offered for 2026-27. River Montessori High School opened in South Bend in Fall 2020 as a mixed-income Montessori high school, the result of planning that started with a 2016 feasibility study and grew with support from the Wildflower Foundation and the Drexel Fund. We are a micro-school with room for 60 to 70 students at full size, meeting in the education wing of First Presbyterian Church downtown. Every student starts on a Core 40 diploma track and can pursue Core 40 Honors. From their third year, students can take dual credit courses at Indiana University South Bend, Saint Mary's College, Ivy Tech and Bethel University, with up to three courses covered by tuition. Instead of an exam week, the whole school spends a week on an Integrated Project that tackles a real-world problem, and students use South Bend as a classroom through local courses and internships. We are Freeway Accredited by the State of Indiana and accept Indiana Choice Scholarships and ESA funds. Out-of-pocket tuition is set by household income and runs $18,250 to $22,250 without aid.
