About Midwest Academy

Midwest Academy serves students in grades 3 through 12 with ADD and ADHD, language-based learning differences, high-functioning autism, and auditory processing challenges. Students learn in a small, engaging setting with a progressive curriculum and a community built around academic achievement, self-acceptance, and individual accountability.

Classes are grouped by academic ability rather than grade level, and learning is project-based. Students show what they know through projects, presentations, experiments, and discussion instead of frequent testing. The BOOST program adds one-to-one and small-group remediation in math and reading, and a postgraduate fifth year is available for students who are not yet ready for college or work. Midwest Academy is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States, and enrollment is rolling throughout the school year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Midwest Academy

Who is Midwest Academy for?

We serve students in grades 3 through 12 with ADD and ADHD, language-based learning differences, high-functioning autism, and auditory processing challenges. We are not the right setting for students with severe behavioral issues, involvement in illegal activity, or a history of expulsion.

Are you accredited?

Yes. We are fully accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States, and our alumni have gone on to a wide range of colleges and universities.

When can my child start?

We enroll on a rolling basis throughout the school year, based on space availability and acceptance.

Should I bring my child to the tour?

We prefer that parents tour first. If we are a good fit for your child and we have an opening at their level, we will arrange a personal tour for your student afterward. Tours run on school days between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

My child has an IEP. What happens to it here?

We help you transition it into an Individualized Support Plan, developed with Carmel Clay Schools. The ISP carries the same documentation as an IEP along with district services such as speech therapy. In the classroom we provide small groups, sensory breaks as needed, and extended time.

Can we use Indiana ESA funds?

Yes, we participate in the Indiana Education Scholarship Account program. Beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year, students pursuing INESA funding must have an IEP or ISP in place. We also offer tuition assistance, with applications opening in January and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Where do your graduates go?

Every student's transition plan is different, but most of our graduates go on to a post-secondary institution, full or part time.
