John G. Conyers Learning Academy is Community Consolidated School District 15's therapeutic day school in Rolling Meadows, serving kindergarten through eighth grade students whose IEP teams have identified the need for a more intensive setting. Our motto is "Where Every Student Can Learn," and we are home to two programs. The REACH Program serves students with significant social, emotional and behavioral needs. Its name stands for relationship and character building, emotional regulation, academic achievement, coping skills training and high expectations. Students work through a structured four-level system with a daily point sheet while staying on the District 15 core curriculum. The ABLE Program serves students with multiple cognitive and behavioral needs. Classes use functional curricula in academics, communication, socialization, sensory integration, life skills and positive adaptive behavior, and each student's programming builds on individual strengths and level of independence. Eligible students ages 8 to 15 can join the District 15 Special Olympics team, the Blue Jays, which trains after school in sports such as basketball, soccer, athletics and snowshoeing. Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in Rolling Meadows

What does District 15's Early Intervention Program do?
It offers playgroups and assessments for children turning three who may show developmental delays or be at risk for learning problems. A nurse, social worker, psychologist, and speech pathologist work with families during the move into early childhood services. Parents are encouraged to take part in the assessment. Our early intervention guide covers the steps.
How do I request a District 15 preschool screening?
District 15 posts an online early childhood screening and pre-registration form on its preschool page. The ECDEC program, for 3- and 4-year-olds identified as at risk with delays of six months or less, screens at the Conyers Learning Academy; call (847) 963-3450 for that screening. A screening is a first step, not a full special education evaluation.
Are District 15 preschoolers with IEPs taught with other children?
District 15 says that in most of its early childhood special education classrooms, children are included with typically developing peers, and support services are built into the classroom. Each child's IEP is updated regularly and the program is monitored for changes. Ask at the IEP meeting how much time your child will spend with peers.
Does a Rolling Meadows address mean my child attends District 15?
Not automatically. District 15 says it serves all or part of seven communities, so a mailing address alone does not settle which district serves your home. Check with the district using your street address before you request a screening or evaluation. Our evaluation request guide explains what to send once you know.
