Hanover Park, ILGrades PreK-5Monthly tuition by classroom ratio; sibling discounts

Greenbrook Montessori School in Hanover Park teaches children from 15 months through kindergarten and is accredited by the American Montessori Society. Our classrooms are grouped for toddlers, twos and threes, and three- to six-year-olds, with low tables, child-sized chairs and materials within easy reach so children can work independently. Kindergarten is the final year of the three-year Montessori primary cycle. Five-year-olds take on more advanced reading, writing and math work, using concrete materials such as the golden beads to understand addition and multiplication, and they help guide the younger children in their room. Kindergarten is offered as a full-day or half-day program inside our 3-6 classrooms. Our full-day program runs year-round, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and a half-day option from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. is available for ages 3 to 6. We enroll year-round as space opens, with priority for siblings.Tuition is monthly and set by classroom ratio, with 10 percent off for a second child and 15 percent off for a third. We do not screen out children with disabilities and make reasonable accommodations.

Hanover Park, ILAges 2-5

Wyspa Dzieci, also called Kids Island Adventures, is a Polish preschool (przedszkole) that opened its Hanover Park location on Turnberry Drive in November 2015. The first Wyspa Dzieci schools began in Bochnia and Krakow, Poland, and the network has served Chicago-area families since 2008, with sister preschools in Algonquin, Wheeling and River Grove. Our Hanover Park preschool sits in a quiet, freestanding building set back from street traffic, with six well-equipped classrooms, a large playground and small, active groups. The building and playground are monitored and the entrance uses an intercom system. We are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our own educational program is designed for bilingual children and prepares them for both American and Polish schools. Children receive speech therapy sessions and English lessons, along with art, theater, music and rhythm, gymnastics, literary workshops and math activities. Our staff includes early childhood teachers, a speech therapist, a psychologist and a dance instructor, and families can arrange piano, soccer and dance. We work with Illinois Action for Children to help families apply for state childcare assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in Hanover Park

Does School District U-46 serve all of Hanover Park?
U-46 serves Hanover Park, but only portions of several other communities. Because city and school-district lines can differ, check your home address with the district before relying on a U-46 school or service contact.
Where can a U-46 family ask about preschool screening?
For U-46 preschool screening information, call 847-888-5000, extension 6332. Use extension 6743 for registration assistance; the preschool special education coordinator is at extension 5987.
What range of special education settings does U-46 offer?
The district’s continuum ranges from general education with modifications or consultation to more restrictive options, including a residential program. U-46 bases options on the intervention a student needs; a diagnosis alone does not assign a setting.
Who should I contact first about a concern at a U-46 school?
U-46 encourages parents to contact their child's teacher and building administration about programs or services. Its Specialized Student Services office is another district contact; the department secretary is at 847-888-5000, extension 5065.
