About Pocatello High School

Pocatello High School opened in 1892, making "Poky High" one of the oldest schools in Idaho, and many of our students are fourth or fifth generation Poky graduates. We serve grades 9 to 12 for the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District on North Arthur Avenue, and our motto is "Where Everybody is Somebody."

Students can take honors, dual enrollment and Advanced Placement courses, join National Honor Society, and enroll in career and technical education, including SkillsUSA programs at the district's Portneuf Valley Technical Education and Career Campus. Gifted and talented services and localized high school pathways are also available.

Our activities include marching band, jazz band, pep band, orchestra, the Gate City Singers, color guard, speech and debate, Act One Drama and student government. Clubs range from robotics and Haywire Robotics to BPA, FCCLA, chess, creative writing, Interact, a human rights club and Sources of Strength. Athletes compete in baseball, basketball, soccer, cheer, cross country, dance, football, golf, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.

Early childhood special education Play-based learning Public school

Lincoln Early Childhood Center in Pocatello houses two preschool programs of Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25, both serving children ages 3 to 5. Our Lincoln Early Intervention Program provides early childhood special education through individualized instruction and play-based learning. Special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and occupational and physical therapists work side by side with support staff in our classrooms. The building is also home to PCSD25 Head Start, one of the first Head Start programs in the country, serving limited-income families since 1965. Head Start offers part-day and full-day classes for 3 to 5 year olds, and families who meet federal income guidelines can pre-apply in English or Spanish. Along with early learning, the program brings health and family services, with a family advocate, a family engagement specialist and a psychologist on the team. We also run an offsite Head Start classroom on Tyhee Road in Chubbuck, and bus service is available for our families.
