About The Wood Acres School
Kay and Dave Clark opened Wood Acres Country Day School in 1969 in a house on Johnson Ferry Road for children ages two to four. In 1981 the school moved to nine wooded acres in East Cobb, and today The Wood Acres School teaches children from age 2 through 8th grade. Turner Hall (2006) holds classrooms for grades 4 to 8 plus science, STEM and technology labs.
Classes have 16 students or fewer; counting assistants, preschool rooms average 7:1, elementary 14:1 and middle school 16:1. Spanish starts at age two and continues through 8th grade, when students can join an optional 10-day study trip to Salamanca, Spain. Students also take STEM and Maker Space projects, art, music, band, multimedia, leadership classes from 5th grade and service learning, and 6th graders can travel to a marine lab in Key Largo.
Children eat lunch on the quad, have daily recess and use our outdoor classroom, playgrounds, field and giant sandbox. Extended day covers 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and we add after-school enrichment and summer camp. The Georgia Accrediting Commission accredits the school, and siblings receive a tuition discount.
