Annsworth Academy in Tallahassee, Florida, is a NAEYC-accredited, Gold Seal Quality Care private early childhood and kindergarten preparatory academy founded in 1984. Situated on 3.5 wooded acres in northeast Leon County, Annsworth combines nature-rich outdoor discovery with high-caliber early childhood education. With an intimate 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, certified early educators implement developmentally appropriate practices emphasizing emergent literacy, hands-on mathematics, sensory exploration, and emotional self-regulation. The academy's expansive outdoor campus features organic gardens, discovery trails, and shaded sensory play yards, offering a restorative, low-stress environment where children of diverse developmental profiles build confidence, language, and kindergarten readiness.

Students at the School of Arts and Sciences at The Centre do not receive traditional letter grades. Each child keeps a portfolio of tests, journal entries, homework and performance graphs that teachers and students use to measure growth. We are one of two tuition-free public charter schools run by the School of Arts and Sciences Foundation in Tallahassee, serving kindergarten through eighth grade on North Monroe Street. The program began as a charter in 1999, founded by local educators and parents. Multi-age classes, each led by two certified teachers, are grouped K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and a combined middle school for grades 6 to 8. Units are project-based, with microscopes, labs and campus gardens for science, and field work through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Florida State University's biology department. Middle schoolers can join a mentor program with FSU's High Magnetic Laboratory and the Challenger Learning Center. Chorus, band, theater, art and "Friday Sing!" assemblies put students on stage. Our Extended Day Program covers 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:10 to 6:00 p.m., with scholarships tied to free and reduced lunch. Contracted buses serve stops across Leon County.
