Annsworth Academy

Community Christian School (CCS) in Tallahassee, Florida, is a classical Christian day school established in 1977 that serves students from preschool through 12th grade (ages 4–18) across the greater Leon County region. Rooted in the classical Christian tradition, CCS utilizes the Trivium method (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric) to cultivate articulate, analytical thinkers and leaders. With small class sizes maintaining a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, the academy delivers rigorous college-preparatory academics, Socratic seminars, fine arts, and competitive athletics. Through its Academic Success Program (ASP), certified educational therapists provide specialized diagnostic accommodations, multisensory reading remediation (Orton-Gillingham), and executive functioning coaching for students with dyslexia, ADHD, and mild learning differences.

Students at the School of Arts and Sciences at The Centre do not receive traditional letter grades. Each child keeps a portfolio of tests, journal entries, homework and performance graphs that teachers and students use to measure growth. We are one of two tuition-free public charter schools run by the School of Arts and Sciences Foundation in Tallahassee, serving kindergarten through eighth grade on North Monroe Street. The program began as a charter in 1999, founded by local educators and parents. Multi-age classes, each led by two certified teachers, are grouped K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and a combined middle school for grades 6 to 8. Units are project-based, with microscopes, labs and campus gardens for science, and field work through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Florida State University's biology department. Middle schoolers can join a mentor program with FSU's High Magnetic Laboratory and the Challenger Learning Center. Chorus, band, theater, art and "Friday Sing!" assemblies put students on stage. Our Extended Day Program covers 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:10 to 6:00 p.m., with scholarships tied to free and reduced lunch. Contracted buses serve stops across Leon County.
