Best Special Needs Schools in Gotha, Florida (2026)

Pathways For Life Academy opened six years ago to give West Orange County middle and high school students with learning differences a program that pairs core academics with real-life skills. We serve grades 6 through 12 off Old Winter Garden Road in Gotha, in small classes with a low student-to-teacher ratio and a therapy-driven approach to instruction. Teachers adjust to how each student learns, for example color-coding information for visual learners, and move through the scope and sequence more slowly than a traditional classroom so topics can sink in. Our full-time day covers English, math, science and history, with afternoons for life skills, social skills and executive functioning training and electives for high schoolers. A part-time afternoon option offers PE, art and life skills. Every Friday students choose a recipe, make a shopping list, shop and cook a group meal in our school kitchen. Basketball, soccer, Fun Friday and community service round out the week, and families can use the Florida FES-UA scholarship.
