Fountain Day School opened in 1957, when Mr. and Mrs. Brooks started a small school in West Hollywood for working families. In the early years some children even stayed overnight. More than 60 years later, their daughters lead the school. We are a licensed preschool with classes for two-, three- and four-year-olds. Two-year-olds work on making friends, circle time, phonics and potty training. Three-year-olds move into small-group work, dramatic play and the alphabet, and four-year-olds keep personal journals, take home short assignments and recite a poem tied to the letter of the week each Friday. Swimming is part of our curriculum all year. Certified Water Safety Instructors teach every class twice a week, four times a week in summer. We serve a healthy organic lunch. Over more than 25 years we have prepared over 1,000 young children of diverse abilities and needs for school. Our program is open year round from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and serves 34 children ages 2 and a half to 5, with priority for low-income families who live, work, train or study in West Hollywood.
