About Coachella Valley High School
Coachella Valley High School was the first high school in the Coachella Valley, opened 115 years ago, and today serves about 2,300 students in grades 9 to 12 in Thermal. Our students RISE, which stands for Respect, Integrity, Scholarship and Excellence.
We offer ten Career Technical Education pathways across eight industry sectors, among them agriculture, engineering, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, Cisco networking and public service, with 29 CTE courses in all. Patient Care, Digital Film, Public Safety and Hospitality/Tourism run as California Partnership Academies with work-based learning, and FFA students show livestock and work in our greenhouse. Advanced Placement courses are offered across the core subjects, along with dual and concurrent enrollment college classes.
Students can join AVID, the Puente Program and our Newcomer Academy, and after-school options include the dance team, hip hop dance, cooking, karate and credit recovery. Migrant students have a dedicated support teacher, mental health services come through the Latino Commission, and work experience is offered through a Department of Rehabilitation grant.
