About Montessori Achievement Centre
Montessori Achievement Centre opened on September 4, 1984 with twelve students and two teachers, founded and directed by Patricia J. Wheeler. Today our six teachers work with about forty-two children ages 2 to 6 in Spring Valley, serving families across East County. In 2004 we earned full accreditation from the Montessori School Accreditation Commission (MSAC/AMS), the second Montessori school in the county to do so.
Certified Montessori educators lead a traditional program in mixed-age classrooms: practical life, sensorial work, and early math and language taught with hands-on materials rather than worksheets. The Half Day program is a focused morning work cycle, and Full Day adds lunch, rest or quiet time, afternoon activities and outdoor play. Our summer program mixes Montessori work with art, gardening, group games and time outside.
The Montessori day runs 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Families pay a weekly rate for a three-, four- or five-day schedule, with a 15% sibling discount, and hourly extended care covers 7:00 to 8:30 in the morning and 1:30 to 5:00 in the afternoon.

Sweetwater Springs Community School
Sweetwater Springs Community School opened in 1993 in a quiet Spring Valley neighborhood across from Monte Vista High School. We serve children from preschool through fifth grade as part of the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, with preschool, transitional kindergarten for children who turn four by September 1, and kindergarten all on one campus. Our classrooms follow standards-based curriculum and instruction, and social-emotional learning is a daily focus. Teachers and staff use restorative practices, Zones of Regulation and Positive Behavior Interventions to help students manage their feelings and resolve conflicts. As a Title I school, we receive federal support for academic achievement, and our English Learner Advisory Committee brings parents of English learners together with the principal to review the program. Students who qualify for special education receive an IEP through the district's continuum of services. Before and after school, the district's Extended Student Services program offers care with creative, recreational and educational activities, and some families qualify for state-funded free spots. Our PTSA is active in school life, and our library is open to every class.
