Kinder Academy Montessori has served San Mateo families since 2004 from our school on East Santa Inez Avenue near downtown. We run a year-round Montessori preschool and kindergarten program for children 2.5 to 6 years old, with half-day and full-day schedules between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Our Montessori-trained teachers work in classrooms prepared with practical life, sensorial, language, math, science, cultural, art, music and movement areas. Children pour, spoon and work buttoning frames in practical life, sort objects by size, weight and texture in the sensorial area, and move from hands-on materials toward abstract math. L'Academy San Mateo opened in September 2021 on North El Camino Real as a Mandarin immersion preschool and infant daycare. We care for children from 6 months to 6 years in infant, toddler, preschool and TK/Pre-K classrooms, full-day and year-round, with fewer than 20 closure days a year, and part-time options are available. About 60 percent of each day is in Mandarin, through songs, stories, play, classroom routines and cultural activities, and the remaining 40 percent is in English to prepare children for kindergarten.
