Other Schools in Poway, CA
Abraxas High School
Abraxas High School is Poway Unified's continuation high school, built for students who need a smaller, more flexible setting than a traditional high school to earn their diploma. Most of our students are 16 or older and choose Abraxas with their families. We offer smaller classes, open entry and open exit, alternative ways to earn elective credits, a shortened day when appropriate and work-study options. California named us a Model Continuation School in 2020, and we are accredited by WASC. New students start in our Success Class, which covers study skills, stress management, conflict strategies and planning. Our counselors, school psychologist and a Mending Matters mental health therapist provide academic counseling, college and career guidance, and individual and group counseling. Our campus also houses the district's Adult Transition Program, which has served young adults with developmental disabilities since 1986. Students ages 18 to 22 who have not earned a diploma and are placed by their IEP team build independence through classroom instruction and community-based training in vocational, community and independent living skills.
Poway High School
Poway High School, home of the Titans, is part of Poway Unified School District in northern San Diego County. Our core values of Respect, Integrity, Growth, Ownership, and Responsibility spell RIGOR, and our classes build critical thinking skills and a global perspective. Our Engineering Academy and Pathway is open to students in grades 9 to 12 and has been named a PLTW Distinguished School seven years in a row. Students focus on mechanical engineering, civil engineering and architecture, or computer engineering, program microcontrollers in C++, design in CAD software such as Inventor and Revit, and earn college credit through Rochester Institute of Technology, with foundational courses articulated with Palomar College. Many also join our Robotics or Science Olympiad teams. Students can also take Advanced Placement courses, AVID, career technical education, and dual enrollment, and work toward the Seal of Biliteracy and the Civic Engagement Seal. We offer peer counseling, peer tutoring, and the Titan Center for college and career planning, along with Titan Theatre, aquatics, and Unified Sports.
