WILD About Learning Academy

Listed
Bentonville, ARAges 2-5$315/week full time; part-time from $136/week

In central Bentonville, one block south of the high school and close to I-540, WILD About Learning Academy takes children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Our day runs 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and we also run a sister campus, WILD-West. Both centers hold a Better Beginnings Level II quality rating, above Arkansas minimum licensing. Our teachers build on Adventures in Learning, the Better Beginnings curriculum with 40 topics across nine focus areas, and add their own lessons and projects; parents see weekly lesson plans in Brightwheel. Children play outdoors every morning and afternoon, and breakfast, lunch and two snacks are served each day. All children are screened twice a year with Ages and Stages, followed by parent-teacher conferences. An on-site therapy room is used daily by partner therapists, including Co-Op and Regional Therapy Services, which offer free evaluations. Full-time care is $315 a week, with Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday, Thursday options. We accept DCFS Child Care Assistance, offer drop-in days and a summer camp for kindergarten through 4th grade, and host optional Soccer Shots, Tippie Toes and Baller Bugs classes.

Comparing school options in Bentonville

Bentonville Schools handles special education through its Special Services department, which supports students on every campus from the elementary schools through Bentonville High and Bentonville West High. Parents searching for special needs schools near Bentonville usually weigh three paths: an IEP in a district school, a private school, or a private placement paid with an Arkansas Education Freedom Account.

Special Services runs Child Find, evaluations and IEPs, and its parent page links the Arkansas special education regulations and eligibility criteria. Parent rights under IDEA are posted in English and Spanish, and families follow IEP paperwork through EdPlan Connect. The district also runs parent choice schools and Bentonville Schools Virtual, so ask how services reach your child in each setting before you apply. Private schools in Northwest Arkansas set their own admissions and supports, and a Bentonville IEP does not travel with a child who leaves for one. Because every Arkansas district screens K-3 students for reading risk, a parent with early reading worries can ask the school for those results first, then request a full evaluation if the screener and classwork point the same way.

Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in Bentonville

Are there autism schools near Bentonville?
Most autistic students here attend a Bentonville school with an IEP, and the IEP team sets the classroom, therapy minutes and behavior supports. Private schools in Northwest Arkansas that enroll autistic children are the other option. Hold both to the same test: autism training for the adults in the room, staffing ratio, speech and OT on campus, and a written behavior approach.
How do Bentonville schools handle dyslexia and ADHD?
Arkansas requires every district to screen all students in kindergarten through grade 3 with a state-approved, evidence-based screener that includes phonological awareness. Ask for your child's results and what intervention follows. For ADHD, ask whether supports come through a 504 plan or an IEP; the ADHD school support guide compares them.
Public, charter or private: who pays for special education in Bentonville?
Bentonville Schools and Arkansas public charter schools provide IEP services free, because charter students keep their full IDEA rights. A private school charges tuition and need not follow an IEP. A child placed privately by a parent has no individual right to the full IEP; the district where the private school sits offers a narrower set of equitable services.
Is the Arkansas Education Freedom Account open to Bentonville students in 2026-27?
Yes. The Education Freedom Account, part of the state's LEARNS reforms, has been universal since 2025-26: any Arkansas K-12 student may apply, whatever the family income, and families renew every year. The old Succeed Scholarship for students with IEPs no longer exists; the EFA absorbed it in 2023-24. Using an EFA ends automatic district special education.
What should I ask on a Bentonville school tour?
Ask who teaches your child and what special education license they hold, how many students share the room, and which therapies happen during the school day. Ask how staff respond when a child is overwhelmed, and request a sample progress report. A private school should say whether it takes EFA funds.
How do I request an evaluation from Bentonville Schools?
Write to your child's principal or to Special Services, describe what you see at home and school, and date the request. Keep a copy. Special Services lists Child Find on its parent page, and requests for existing special education records go to its records clerk. The evaluation request guide shows what to include.
Do Bentonville's parent choice and virtual schools serve students with IEPs?
They are Bentonville Schools programs, so a student keeps the IEP. What changes is delivery: pull-out minutes on a themed campus, or speech and counseling for a student learning online. Before you apply, ask Special Services how the plan would run there and whether the IEP team should meet to adjust services after the move.
Should Bentonville families look at schools in Rogers or Fayetteville?
For private options, yes. Private schools admit students from any town, and an EFA works at any participating private school on the state's approved list. Public special education still comes from the district where you live. Compare Rogers and Fayetteville schools on commute and services.
