About The Menta Education Group - Yuma
Menta Academy Yuma is a private special education day school operated by The Menta Education Group, which runs schools across five states and holds Cognia accreditation. The Yuma campus serves students with exceptional needs in partnership with Yuma County Schools and uses the Universal Design for Learning framework, which gives teachers flexible methods, materials, and assessments to differentiate instruction for each student. Each student's needs are mapped against state learning standards so teachers can see curriculum strengths and the areas that need support.
Staff use the Expanded Menta Method, the Structured Teaching Model, and blended learning, and the program is built around three ideals: college, career, and citizenship readiness. Students reach the school through an IEP team placement from their home district, when the district determines that a Level D placement is needed, or through parental placement with an Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account. The school serves students with IEPs and 504 plans as well as other students who need additional educational or behavioral support. Every student who needs counseling receives it, speech and occupational therapy are provided as identified in the IEP, and transportation is available through the home district or the school's own service. The school follows a no suspension, no expulsion policy.
