Happy Trails has been in child care in Yuma since 1990, running a full day educational program for working parents from infancy through school age at 11607 South Fortuna Road, with a second site, Desert Trails Learning Center, on West 19th Street. Daily schedules include phonics, music, reading, writing, arts and crafts, games, dramatic play, science, and math, in individual child-directed classrooms where each child moves at their own pace. Happy Trails is state licensed and DES approved, is on the USDA food program, and participates in First Things First and the Early Inclusion Program through the Blake Foundation and Easter Seals. A state certified teacher is on staff, all staff are CPR and First Aid certified with fingerprint clearance cards, and everyone completes at least 20 hours of continuing education each year.
