About the Center

Commonwealth Autism is dedicated to advancing equity for autistic and neurodivergent individuals in Virginia, focusing on empowering them to thrive within their communities. Serving a diverse range of individuals, including those with language-based learning disabilities and twice-exceptional students, the organization is committed to creating innovative programs that foster community inclusion and enhance life skills. Through its specialized initiatives, which include personalized life skills instruction, job training, and placement services, Commonwealth Autism equips individuals with the tools they need for successful integration into society. The organization stands out due to its unique social enterprise model embodied in Good Foods Grocery, where profits support free job training and paid internships for people with autism while promoting local businesses. By prioritizing strong family partnerships and maintaining a low student-to-teacher ratio, Commonwealth Autism ensures that every individual receives tailored support designed to meet their specific needs. This holistic approach not only advocates for the autistic community but also actively works to change perceptions and create new opportunities for engagement and success.

No reviews yet

New Patterns ABA provides in-home and community-based ABA therapy for children, teens, and adults with autism across the Greater Richmond area. Sessions take place where families live and learn, in the home and in the community, so new skills carry over into daily routines. Each client is paired with a provider matched to their needs and goals, and a BCBA builds an individualized plan that adapts as the client progresses. The team takes a whole-person approach, giving every client, family, and caregiver a voice in the process, with parent training built in so progress continues between sessions. Scheduling is flexible, including evening and weekend availability. Privately owned and family-centered, New Patterns ABA is small enough to know each client personally and experienced enough to support complex needs. The team manages insurance authorizations and paperwork from the first call to help care begin without delay. Service areas include Richmond and surrounding communities across Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover counties.
