Spring, TX • Ages 5-12

Auxiliary Autism Programs and Services was founded in 2021 by Melanie D. White as an option for families looking for an alternative to standard ABA. Children ages 4 to 17 receive individualized instruction at the AU Program Therapeutic Learning Center, with the goal of transitioning to a traditional learning environment. The approach, called Poly-Aggregated Intervention, layers Relationship Development Intervention, Music-Mediated Intervention, Floortime, play therapy, and some Applied Behavior Analysis, and targets academics, behavior, cognition, communication, life skills, and social skills. American Sign Language is taught so non-verbal children have a voice, and food exploration helps children with eating challenges. The schedule also includes afterschool care, weekend therapy, holiday and school break coverage, monthly Parent Night Out respite, and parent training workshops each July.

Why Choose ABA Therapy in Spring?

Spring is a large area in north Harris and southern Montgomery counties along Interstate 45, between Houston and The Woodlands, known for Old Town Spring. It sits within a busy north-Houston ABA market of center-based clinics and in-home teams. ABA is one of the most widely used approaches for helping children with autism build communication and daily living skills.

Comprehensive Autism Therapy Services in Spring

Spring-area ABA providers offer early intervention, center-based programs, and in-home therapy, and many coordinate with the Spring ISD or Klein ISD Child Find process. Texas Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) serves children from birth to 36 months. Parent training and insurance navigation are standard, and speech and occupational therapy are often available through partner practices nearby. When exploring special needs educational programs alongside behavioral therapy, families in Spring often find that coordinated services produce the best outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions About ABA Therapy in Spring

Does insurance cover ABA therapy in Spring?
Yes. Texas requires state-regulated plans to cover ABA for autism, with no annual limit for children under 10, and Texas Medicaid (STAR, STAR Kids) covers eligible children. Spring-area clinics commonly work with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana. Self-funded employer plans follow federal rules, so confirm your ABA benefit at intake.
Where do I start for a child under 3 in Spring?
Begin with Texas Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), which serves children from birth to 36 months with developmental delays and requires no diagnosis to start. Many Spring-area providers coordinate with ECI and can help you plan the transition to private ABA and school services around age 3.
In-home or center-based ABA in the Spring area?
Both work well. In-home ABA avoids I-45 traffic and builds skills in your child's own routines. Center-based programs offer a peer setting and steadier staffing, with clinics spread along the corridor. Ask each provider which model fits your child's goals and which Spring-area neighborhoods it covers in-home.
Which nearby areas should Spring families also consider?
The Woodlands sits just north along I-45, Conroe is a drive further north, and Humble adds options to the east near the airport. Many north-Houston providers serve several communities and offer in-home visits, so comparing nearby markets can help with availability.
