About Overland Elementary Early Childhood Education Center
Overland Elementary Early Childhood Education Center is the early learning home of Sweetwater County School District #1, bringing Early Head Start, Head Start, district preschool and district childcare together in one Rock Springs building. Children have an outdoor playground and an indoor playground for cold or wet days.
Our Head Start program serves 3- and 4-year-olds from low-income and at-risk families, and priority goes to children with disabilities and to families within federal poverty guidelines. Staff partner with parents through family home visits and conferences, follow written school readiness goals, and help each child make the move to kindergarten. An elected Policy Council of Head Start parents and community members meets monthly and shares in program decisions, and our team includes a family advocate manager and a health manager.
District childcare is open Monday to Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., for Sweetwater County School District #1 employees and for families who qualify for Early Head Start. It serves children from birth to age 3, plus before and after school care for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
