Valley Classical School

Valley Classical School opened in 2017 with about 30 students from 15 families, and we were the first classical, collaborative school in the New River Valley. We are a classical Christian school serving Pre-K through 12th grade, with families from many churches and denominations united by the Nicene Creed as our statement of faith.

Our model splits the week between campus and home. Lower School students in Pre-K through 4th grade attend class with trained teachers two days a week, and Upper School students in 5th grade and up attend three days. On the other days, parents serve as co-teachers and guide assignments at home. Campus days cover our Classical Core of math, science, language arts, Latin, history, and fine arts or PE, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric stages.

After years of renting space from Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, we moved ahead of the 2025-2026 year into our own building on West Main Street in Christiansburg. It has classrooms for every class, two large community spaces and an outdoor pocket park. Tuition for 2026-2027 is $4,380 for Lower School and $5,560 for Upper School, with need-based scholarships available.
