Minnick School – Wise

Minnick School in Big Stone Gap is one of the Minnick Schools that enCircle operates across Virginia, each one a private day school licensed by Virginia's education department. Our students, ages 5 to 22, have struggled in their public schools, and we work toward returning them to their home schools or preparing them for life after graduation. Our Wise location also runs an adapted program.

Every student arrives with an IEP and a referral from the home school division's IEP team. Children's Services Act funding covers the approved placement, so parents pay nothing, and the home district handles transportation.

Students with emotional and learning disabilities get social skills groups and individualized behavioral supports, and we keep model classrooms for students on the autism spectrum and students with multiple disabilities. Board Certified Behavior Analysts consult with staff and students every day, and master's-level social workers or counselors teach our social emotional learning curriculum. Career and technical education starts in elementary school, and an Extended School Year summer program serves students at risk of regression. VAISEF accredits the Minnick Schools.
