About Hartvigsen Elementary School
Hartvigsen is our Granite School District school for students with significant special needs. We recognize each student’s individuality and their right to learn, with respect and dignity guiding our school community.
Our program began as the Granite Training Center. Students moved to our current Taylorsville building in the 2013–14 school year. We work to educate, encourage and support students as they develop skills for a fulfilling life.

Kids World Academy
Our Taylorsville school provides private preschool, elementary, middle and high school programs. We use an eclectic approach and developmentally appropriate practices, adapting each child’s learning program to their needs. Our elementary program participates in the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship through the Children First Education Fund. We also offer individual therapy sessions in which a therapist and parent establish goals together. School learning and therapy are planned around the child rather than a single fixed teaching method.
Realms of Inquiry
We are a cooperative learning community in Taylorsville offering an accredited curriculum for grades 7–12. At Realms of Inquiry, students work with faculty to design a program around their interests and learning style. Our approach emphasizes individualized, real-world learning and opportunities to move at an appropriate pace. Outdoor experiences are part of the program. Students work with peers in settings that give them opportunities to practice responsibility, leadership and interpersonal skills, alongside their academic studies.
