Heron School

Heron School is a private secondary school in Moab, Utah, serving students in grades 7 through 12. Its stated mission is to support exceptional students in achieving academic excellence and developing emotional intelligence through a rigorous, supportive, project based learning environment.

The school supports all learning profiles and specializes in working with both academically accelerated and neurodivergent learners, including students identified as twice-exceptional, which it defines as accelerated in one or more areas of interest alongside a qualifying learning disability such as autism, dyslexia, or ADHD. Its Exceptionalities We Support section also names anxiety, and the school specializes in providing accommodations for students with exceptionalities.

Instruction is individualized and built around each student's strengths and interests, using one-on-one instruction, small classes at a 6 to 1 ratio, project based courses, online coursework with oversight, concurrent enrollment in college courses, ACT preparation, and AP coursework. The school is neither a therapeutic school nor a boarding school. The campus sits three blocks from Main Street in Moab.
